During the 3rd quarter of the Elkins vs. TVHS game last Thursday evening, Elliot drove to the basket against a defender and with a soft touch off the glass, he became the All-Time leading scorer in Elkins High School history. That basket gave him 1,293 points breaking Clint Crosston’s record of 1,292 points that stood for 27 years! He finished the game with 13 total points and ended the night at 1,297.
Last night the Tigers ended their season in Sectional play at Bridgeport against the Indians. The Tigers played with tremendous heart. A basket here or there and the outcome may have been different, but what these young student-athletes did this season was re-ignite a spark in Elkins basketball. This seasons crowds were a flashback to what they used to be, there was a sense of pride in the school and community. It was evident last night as the Visitors side was nearly at full capacity. First year Head Coach Amrit Rayfield and his staff deserve a tremendous amount of credit. Their vision and dedication they have brought to this program is contagious.
Elliot finished last nights contest with 18 points and ended his stellar career with 1,315 points. Congratulations to him, the Seniors, the returning players, the Coaches, and the fans!
