Good luck this Thursday as Elkins is the host of the Regional Class AA-A II meet at Davis & Elkins College at 1pm.
This week we go back to the grid iron for our Male Athlete of the Week. “Dee” a newcomer to the Tiger family is quickly making a name for himself on the field. This past week the Tigers posted a hard fought road win against Roane Co. Dee had a big night running the ball for the Tigers. He tallied 162 yards rushing on 9 carries (18yd/avg). He recorded 2 touchdowns as well on runs of 63 and 64 yards! Congratulations to Dee and the entire Tiger team!
“Sammie” a freshman member of the Elkins High XC team is having an outstanding year and last week was another great run. The Lady Tigers XC team came in first overall in a 3 team tune up race at Tucker Co. before conference and regionals begin. Sammie was the top finisher for the Lady Tigers with a time of 21:58 and was the second overall place finisher in the meet. We want to say congratulations and keep up the great work!! Good luck in the upcoming weeks to the entire XC team.
This week we want to recognize the entire Tiger football team on an awesome road victory last week against the Colts of Philip-Barbour. The Tigers were a dominating presence on both sides of the ball. There were definitely some standout individuals both offensively and defensively, but this was a team win and we want to congratulate all the players and Coaches! Let’s continue the momentum and go out and put up another W in the win column after a bye week.
This week Sofia Triplett is our Female Athlete of the Week. The Senior soccer player has been on a scoring frenzy this year and last week was no different. In 2 wins for the Lady Tigers (11-3 overall, 7-1 in conference), Sofia recorded all 4 goals. The Tigers defeated RCB 2-1 on Tuesday evening and then travelled to Grafton Thursday evening where they blanked the Bearcats 2-0. We also want to acknowledge the defensive unit as well who continue to come up big. Congrats to Sofia and the entire Tiger squad. Keep up the terrific work!!
