Josh Bodkin-Freshman EHS Cross-Country

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Josh Bodkin-Freshman
EHS Cross-Country
This week we take our hat off, or should we say shoe off to freshman Josh Bodkin of the EHS cross-country team. Last week at the Grafton Invitational meet Josh turned in his personal best time of 18:46 and a 23rd place finish overall. This was enough to garner his first medal of the season and to help the boys team to a 4th place overall finish out of the 11 team meet. Maybe the most impressive thing about this particular race was that Josh ran the majority of it with only one shoe!! He lost one of his shoes early in the first mile of the race and was still able to pass at least 15 other racers according to his coach. His efforts by his coach were described as tough, fluid and gritty.

Congrats

to Josh! What an awesome display of determination and literally leaving it out there!!

Last week against conference opponent East Fairmont, Hannah was able to score the only goal for the Tigers on a direct kick from the corner sailing it above the goalkeeper’s outreached hands to find the back of the net. The goal secured a 1-1 tie and prevented a loss. Keep up the big kicks and tough play Hannah!

Our female athlete of the week is Alexa Price of the girls soccer team. Alexa is having a great senior year. Her leadership on and off the field has proven invaluable to the teams success so far. She possesses great speed and she is usually the one flying down the field beating her opponents to the ball. She found the back of the net against RCB on a PK to help defeat the Eagles 3-0 and scored the loan goal against Fairmont Sr to secure the win for the Tigers. Congratulations to Alexa and the Lady Tigers. Good luck as the season rolls on!

Bobby Valentine-Freshman EHS Soccer

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Bobby Valentine-Freshman
EHS Soccer
We look to the boys soccer team and it’s goalkeeper for our athlete of the week. Bobby Valentine has the job of defending his teams goal from shots being drilled at him. He literally hurls his body in front of those shots and deflects them to keep his team in the game. For only being a Freshman, Bobby has already earned the respect from his coaches and teammates. They trust him back there and he is a big reason the soccer team is having a great year! We congratulate Bobby and wish him continued success and good health.
