Athlete of the Week

Isabelle Judy-Freshman EHS Swim Team

Isabelle is this week’s Female Athlete of the Week. She may only be a Freshman, but she has made quite a splash in her first year as a Tiger. She has had a solid year and this past week she definitely showed she will be one to watch in the coming years. She took 1st place in the 200IM(2:32), 100 Butterfly(1:14) and as a member of the 400 Freestyle Relay(4:31) at Buckhannon HS last Thursday. She also had a strong showing at the Big 10 Swim Championships this past Saturday coming in tied for 4th place Individually. We are proud of her hard work and determination! Congratulations to Isabelle and the entire Tiger Swim Team and Coaches!!

Alex Burge-Sophmore EHS Wrestling

Alex Burge is this week’s Male Athlete of the Week. Alex has been having a solid year for the Tigers on the mat. He has wrestled in the 132lb wt. class this season and has compiled a record of 29-13 overall. He went 8-2 this past weekend at Petersburg HS. The Big 10 Championships are coming up this weekend and we want to wish Alex and the entire Tiger team the best of luck! Congratulations Alex!

Madison Holland-Junior EHS Basketball

This past week, the Lady Tigers put back to back wins up and Madison was key to their success. She put up 14 point against RCB and 10 points vs Grafton. Madison, has the ability to defend as well as put up points and with her athleticism and hard work ethic, she has earned Female Athlete of the Week. We are very proud of her and the entire Lady Tigers! Congratulations and Go Tigers!

Blake Harris-Junior EHS Basketball

This past week the Tigers kept rolling with solid play from their starters and have found a nice rotation from their bench play. Most notably, Blake Harris. Harris, a Junior Guard has provided a spark for the Tigers on both ends of the floor. This past week he netted 14pts against East Fairmont, 15pts vs. Grafton, and 16 pts against Tygarts Valley, including 5 3’s from behind the arc! His intensity is contagious and his hustle has helped put the Tigers in good position coming down a tough stretch towards the latter part of the season. We are proud of Blake and the entire Tiger squad!

Senior-Donovan Wiles EHS Basketball

Donovan showed this week what hard work in the off-season can do for a player. He helped his Tigers go 3-1 through a grueling 4 game stretch. He averaged nearly 22 ppg over the 4 games, with a high score of 30 points against the #2 team in the state Fairmont Sr. He also has stepped up his defensive play as well getting the privilege of matching up with the opponents top players. Congratulations to Donovan and the entire Tiger team! We are proud of you!

Senior-Haley Smith EHS Girls Basketball

Haley is coming off a solid performance against RCB High School last Friday night, as the Lady Tigers defeated the Eagles by 20 points. She recorded 11 points and 5 rebounds in the win. She has been consistent on both ends of the floor and her never give up attitude made her an easy choice for female athlete of the week. Congratulations Haley! We are proud of you and all the Lady Tigers!!

Senior Elliot White Basketball

Elliot has picked up right where he left off last year as establishing himself as one of the top players in the region. He scored 34 points against Tucker Co. this past Saturday and became just one of eight players in EHS basketball history to go over 1000 points in his career. He is an unselfish player and has a desire to make not only himself better, but his teammates as well.
Congratulations to Elliot on his continued hard work ethic and team play!

Senior Mara Looney-Sanders Elkins Swim Team

Mara is the lone female senior for the Elkins Tigers swim team. She has been instrumental as a team leader this year and has set several Personal Records. . She has medaled in several meets and led her team to victories against some very tough opponents. We are proud of Mara for her leadership and hard work. Congratulations to her and the entire EHS Swim Team!

Kaeli Ricottilli-Senior Cross Country

Kaeli ran in her last CC race at the State meet finishing in 79th place overall for the Lady Tigers. Helping her team finish 11th place! Kaeli has been the lone Senior on the girls team and has been instrumental in providing leadership and dedication to her team. We congratulate Kaeli and wish her the best of luck!
