Addie Berdine EHS Cross Country

We are sooo excited to be able to bring the Elkins High School Athlete of the Week back for the 3rd year in a row!! We had our doubts, but one thing is for sure, the Elkins Tiger athletes definitely didn’t give up and they have inspired us to continue to work hard, compete every day, and never lose hope! We want to congratulate our first Female Athlete of the Week, Addie Berdine!!
This past Saturday at the Frankfurt Invitational, Addie placed 8th overall and was the top Tiger finisher. She helped pace the Tigers and led them to a 2nd place finish!! She finished in a time of 23:33. We are proud of you Addie and the entire Lady Tiger team!!! Way to go and continue to compete every day!!

EHS Girls Basketball Anna Belan

This week we honor Sophomore Anna Belan from the Lady Tigers basketball team. Last week, the Tigers played the Indians from Bridgeport High in the first round of Sectional play. Despite the loss, Anna had a terrific game leading the Tigers with 13 points. The future is bright for the Lady Tigers basketball team and we congratulate Anna and all the members for their hard work and wish them continued success this off-season!

We honor the EHS Senior group of the 2019-2020 boys basketball team this week!
These Seniors have come through the program helping lay the foundation for hard work and dedication! They have experienced success on and off the hardwood. EPT&SIC want to both congratulate them and wish them the best of luck as they move into the next chapter of their lives!

P.S-We want to wish the Tigers Good Luck tonight as they take on RCB in the Semi-Finals of the Boys Sectional play!!

EHS Swim Team Seniors

Bobby Mahley are this week’s Male Athletes of the Week. The Senior trio have been leaders in and out of the pool this season. We would like to say congratulations for your commitment, hard work, and leadership through this season. We want to wish you the best of luck as the Regionals and States are approaching and to your future endeavors!

EHS Lady Basketball Seniors

Seniors Alexis Hare, Madison Holland, and Alyssa Severino are this week’s Female Athletes of the Week. We wanted to honor these ladies for their hard work, dedication, and leadership. We encourage everyone to get out on Thursday Feb. 6th to see them play in their last home game against Philip-Barbour. We want to say congratulations to these Seniors and wish them the best of luck heading into the last stretch of games, the beginning of Sectional play and their future endeavors! Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger!

Dre Owens-Senior EHS Basketball

Getting it done on the hardwood is this weeks Male Athlete of the Week, Dre Owens. A Senior guard for the Tigers had a career performance last week in a big road win against the Bees of East Fairmont HS. Dre scored a game-high 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Those numbers will get a lot of people’s attention, but Head Coach Amrit Rayfield also complimented his efforts on the defensive end, stating Dre had a great all-around game for the Tigers. We are proud of Dre and the entire Tiger team on their victory on the road! Keep up the intensity and good luck to Dre and the Tigers!

Hannah Phillips-Junior EHS Swim Team

This week we head to the pool to see the Female Athlete of the Week, Hannah Phillips.
In a home meet going against Dodridge County HS and East Fairmont, Hannah had a spectacular individual and team showing! She placed 1st in the Individual 200 and 500 Freestyle races and was a member of the 200 medley and 400 Freestyle relay teams which both finished in 1st as well! The Tigers took 1st place overall in the meet. Hannah continues to have an awesome swim season and we can’t wait to see how far her and the Tigers can go this year! Congrats to Hannah and the Lady Tigers Swim team!

Austin Whetsell-Swimming

This weeks Male Athlete of the Week is Austin Whetsell, a member of the Tigers swim team.
Last week in a home meet against Buckhannon-Upshur HS and Liberty HS the Tiger boys team captured 1st place as they were paced by the strong swimming of Austin. He finished 1st in the 200m Freestyle and the 100m breaststroke individually and 1st place in the 200m relay with Looney-Sanders, Anger, and Ludwig. He also was a member of the 400m freestyle relay. Congrats to Austin and the entire Tigers swim team! The hard work and dedication continues to pay off! Proud of all the Tiger Swim team members!

Anna Belan-Girls Basketball

This week we honor Anna Belan as our Female Athlete of the Week. Last Thursday, Anna came up big for the Lady Tigers getting a much needed Conference win against RCB at home. Anna finished the game with a career high 18 points, 10 of which came in the 2nd quarter. Her play in then2nd sparked the Lady Tigers who went on a big run to extend their lead and never looked back. Congrats to Anna and the entire Tiger team. Keep up the great work.

Joslyn DeWeese-Freshman Swim Team

Starting off our Female Athlete of the Week in 2020 is Freshman newcomer Joslyn DeWeese. Last week in a home swim meet against Notre Dame High and North Marion High, she took 1st place in the 200 IM and was part of the 1st place 400 meter freestyle relay team! Coach Cain commented that Joslyn has continued to work very hard each week and continues to improve her times. Her future is bright with such a hard work ethic! Congratulations to Joslyn and good luck to the entire Tiger Swim team in 2020!
