Cory Harper – Senior EHS Basketball

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Cory Harper – Senior
EHS Basketball
This weeks male athlete of the week is a member of the boys basketball squad. Cory is no stranger to the athlete of the week, but this is his first appearance this year. He had a solid week on the hardwood helping the Tigers earn a couple of W’s. Harper netted 18 points in a loss to PB, but then bounced back to hit for 22 and the win against rival Buckhannon-Upshur. 16 of his 22 points came in the 2nd half of the game. Then on Senior night, Harper scorched the nets for 17 against in-county rival Tygarts Valley. The win moves the Tigers to 11-7 on the season. Harper continues to close in on the 1000 point scoring mark for his career. The Tigers have several rigorous road games left on the schedule and then onto Sectionals.

Congrats

to Cory and the entire Tigers hoop squad.

Josh Bodkin-Freshman EHS Cross-Country

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Josh Bodkin-Freshman
EHS Cross-Country
This week we take our hat off, or should we say shoe off to freshman Josh Bodkin of the EHS cross-country team. Last week at the Grafton Invitational meet Josh turned in his personal best time of 18:46 and a 23rd place finish overall. This was enough to garner his first medal of the season and to help the boys team to a 4th place overall finish out of the 11 team meet. Maybe the most impressive thing about this particular race was that Josh ran the majority of it with only one shoe!! He lost one of his shoes early in the first mile of the race and was still able to pass at least 15 other racers according to his coach. His efforts by his coach were described as tough, fluid and gritty.

Congrats

to Josh! What an awesome display of determination and literally leaving it out there!!

Hannah Cutright-Senior EHS Girls Soccer

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Hannah Cutright-Senior
EHS Girls Soccer
This weeks athlete of the week is Senior Mid-fielder Hannah Cutright. Hannah has had a solid year so far for the Lady Tigers and is a big reason for their success. Last week against conference opponent East Fairmont, Hannah was able to score the only goal for the Tigers on a direct kick from the corner sailing it above the goalkeeper’s outreached hands to find the back of the net. The goal secured a 1-1 tie and prevented a loss. Keep up the big kicks and tough play Hannah!
