Alexa Price-Senior EHS Soccer

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Alexa Price-Senior
EHS Soccer
Our female athlete of the week is Alexa Price of the girls soccer team. Alexa is having a great senior year. Her leadership on and off the field has proven invaluable to the teams success so far. She possesses great speed and she is usually the one flying down the field beating her opponents to the ball. She found the back of the net against RCB on a PK to help defeat the Eagles 3-0 and scored the loan goal against Fairmont Sr to secure the win for the Tigers. Congratulations to Alexa and the Lady Tigers. Good luck as the season rolls on!

Bobby Valentine-Freshman EHS Soccer

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Bobby Valentine-Freshman
EHS Soccer
We look to the boys soccer team and it’s goalkeeper for our athlete of the week. Bobby Valentine has the job of defending his teams goal from shots being drilled at him. He literally hurls his body in front of those shots and deflects them to keep his team in the game. For only being a Freshman, Bobby has already earned the respect from his coaches and teammates. They trust him back there and he is a big reason the soccer team is having a great year! We congratulate Bobby and wish him continued success and good health.

EHS Volleyball
This week we honor Senior Volleyball player Olivia Guire as our female athlete of the week. Olivia has been coming up big at the net with multiple kills and key blocks for the Lady Tigers. The Tigers had a hard fought win over Petersburg last week and a big part of that was the play on Guire’s part. She controlled the net with her play. We look forward to cheering on Olivia and the Lady Tigers this season! Best of luck this year!

His intensity on the field along with his senior leadership have helped the Tigers and it’s younger members gain early confidence. We wish Max and the entire boys soccer team continued success as the season goes on!

Darby Bailey-Sophomore EHS Girls Soccer

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Darby Bailey-Sophomore
EHS Girls Soccer
We are excited to officially begin the Elkins High Athletes of the Week series! Hard to believe fall sport season is upon on us! This the first week, we head to the soccer field where sophomore Darby Bailey gets things “kick” started for us! Darby recorded the lone goal for the Lady Tigers as they traveled to Winfield WV and defeated a very good and historically strong Winfield team 1-0.
Darby found the net actually twice, but one was called back on a questionable offside penalty! But one was enough for the Lady Tigers as their defense and goal play helped secure the win! Congrats to Darby and the Tigers! We wish them continued success this season!
